VTU-01 Underfloor wheel lathe

     VTU-01 wheel lathe used as a technological equipment in the locomotive or trams depot. It used for turning treatment of the railway wheel set rolling profile.

The lathe is installed on a foundation in the pit bellow the rails (underfloor).

 

Main parts of the lathe:

  • Underframe is welded from the steel sheets. Carriages assemblies, lifting devices and tracktion motor support device was mounted on it. 

  • Two carriage asemblies? that provides traverse and transverse movements of the cutter. Traverse feed may be carried by the drive

  • Lifting devices for lifting and holding of the wheel set during processing.

  • Traction motor supporting device

  • Feed drives

  • Main drive (Nut drive) unit

  • Hydraulic system that provides hydraulic pressure for the lifting devices and traction motor support device.

  • Main control panel that mounted on the frame.

  • Portable control unit for the lifting devices and traction motor support device.

  • Electrical cabinet

  • Movable rails for transporting rolling stock in to processing zone.

 

     Changeble tools and equipment:

  • Three pairs of cutters with carbide cutting elements for wheel sets 950, 1050 and 1220-1250 mm diameters.

  • Set of lifting heads, lock inserts and spacers for various types of the wheel sets

           

     Differences from existing analogues

  • Underframe design.
  • Using of standart serial gears in drives;
  • Using of the frequency inverters for drive motors control. It provides stepless ajustment of the feed and main drive speed (optional). Also it provides smooth start and stop of drives.
  • Using of the hydraulic station with electric control. It provides controlling of the lifting devices and traction motor support device from the portable unit.
  • Using of the standart cardan shafts in drives.
